Join Coral Conant Gilles, Storytelling Naturalist, for stories about animals and their movements at the Meadowridge, Madison Public Library. Thank you to the library for sponsoring this FREE event!
With stories of local animals moving across the land, we tap into what’s happening around us and awaken our curiosity. Coral tells stories in the traditional way of oral storytelling, engaging imagination and integrating one’s own experiences. With our imaginations buzzing, Coral brings out a large canvas with stories told in animal tracks. We gather around the mat and work together to tell the stories we see. Then kids get to create their own stories in tracks on large sheets of paper using real track replicas and washable paint. When their scenes are finished, they have the opportunity to tell us their stories.
Oral storytelling simulates greater imagination and engages the brain more fully than reading picture books. Imagination…
