Chautauqua allows participants to meet a historical figure, portrayed by a scholar, hear their story and then ask questions of both the historical figure and of the scholar. 

Mardy Murie (1902-2003) was instrumental in the passage of the Wilderness Act and the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act (ANILC) in 1980. She continued to speak and write on behalf of conservation through the 1980s and 90s.
