About the event

Bird Connection

Join Coral Conant Gilles, Storytelling Naturalist, for stories about birds at the Monroe Street Madison Public Library. Thank you to the library for sponsoring this FREE event!

Coral tells stories in the traditional way of oral storytelling, engaging imagination and integrating one’s own experiences. These stories are full of participation and ways for kids to add their knowledge.

Then everyone gets to make their own decomposable, nut-free bird feeder to take home.

We'll end our program with a brief Wonder Wander to look and listen for birds. There is so much nature connection to be had right in the city!

Oral storytelling simulates greater imagination and engages the brain more fully than reading picture books. Imagination is necessary for both empathy and problem solving. Together we can raise more aware and capable children!
